With the new Star Trek movie hitting the theatres, I've decided to do a ranking of all the Star Trek movies and series.

Movies

11. The Final Frontier - 1 star

The most terrible and boring of all the Star Trek Movies, in my opinion. The plot was stupid and the writing was bad.

10. Nemesis - 2.5 stars

My biggest complaint about this movie is that the characters were not right. Their personalities did not match their TV personalities. I also didn't like the plot too much. Also, I just want to say in general, that fight scenes in Star Trek movies are a bit lame. It's not like the actors are good fighters. The only decent fight scenes are ones with Klingons because they have melee weapons so you can choreograph a decent fight scene.

9. Insurrection - 2.5 stars

This was just one long TV episode; one long bad TV episode.

8. The Motion Picture - 3 stars

This movie wasn't TOO bad. It may have been a little bit long but I didn't feel that it was necessarily bad.

7. Search For Spock - 3 stars

It wasn't a great movie but it wasn't bad movie.

6. Generations - 3 stars

Most of it wasn't too bad. I didn't like the idea of the Nexus but I guess they had to come up with a way to have Kirk interact with Picard.

5. The Voyage Home - 3.5 stars

I enjoyed this movie. I thought it was fun but there wasn't enough elements of Star Trek in it.

4. Wrath of Khan - 3.5 stars

This was a good movie but I didn't love it. It was a good Star Trek movie.

3. Star Trek (2009) - 3.5 stars

As a fresh look on the Star Trek franchise, I thought the movie succeeded in its task. The actors must be commended for their efforts in their portrayal of the original characters. I thought the movie lacked a bit of pacing. It goes in full force and doesn't really ever slow down. Besides that, I thought the movie was enjoyable. Click here to see my full review.

1. The Undiscovered Country / First Contact - 4 stars

I have a tie for #1. I really like these two movies. They both have very good stories. Undiscovered Country was almost an epic story. There was a lot going on at the same time in different places. The acting was pretty much on the same level as the other movies with one exception. I thought Patrick Stewart gave a standout performance.

I find it hard to rank the series because Voyager and DS9 had some pretty terrible episodes but some really good ones, too. And TOS was kind of good and bad in its own way. I think TNG had the most consistently good episodes so it's the clear #1 for me.
