Harry Potter and the Globet of Fire - Review
by vxt(November 18, 2005)
The Globet of Fire is the fourth movie in the wildly popular Harry Potter series. This movie is approximately 2.5 hours but as with the other Harry Potter movies I find that it starts off kind of fast, skipping over some things that are in the book that I would have liked to see. They showed this big build up to the Quidditch World Cup but we didn't get to see any Quidditch being played. I know we've seen Quidditch in other movies but these guys are supposed to be the pros. It would have been nice to see how pro Quidditch is played. Other than the beginning, I was pretty statisfied with amount of content they showed for the rest of the movie.
The main plot in this movie is about the Tri-Wizard Tournament, in which Hogwarts has been chosen to host. Three schools are to participate in a difficult and dangerous tournament. One student from each school is chosen to represent their school. The movie was very fast paced. Most of the movie was concentrated around the three kids, Harry, Ron and Hermione so we didn't get to know that much about the new students introduced in this movie. We did get to learn a few new thing about Neville Longbottom though.
I thought the CG was excellent. The entrance of the visiting schools Beauxbatons and Durmstrang was very impressive looking.
This was probably one of my favourite Harry Potter books and I thought they translated it to the big screen fairly well. I'm not sure if I like this movie better than the last one though. It's pretty close.
