X-Men: The Last Stand - Review
by vxt(May 28, 2006)
If X-Men: The Last Stand is the final installment of the X-Men movies, it sure went out with a bang.
The Last Stand is action-packed and moves very quickly. It's almost like watching a 108 minute long trailer. There is little time for story or character development as the movie opts to go for shock value and big special effects moments. The special effects and big moments are great, it's unfortunate though that they were unable to build a story around it. A lot of sh*t goes down in this movie which may please some and anger others.
All the main characters from the previous movie were there with the exception of Nightcrawler. I'm not sure if I missed a scene explaining his absence. New characters in this movie include Beast (Kelsey Grammar), Angel (Ben Foster) and Juggernaut. Sadly only Beast seem to get any screen time. One of the problems with this movie was that it tried to do too much and was unable to give the proper time to what makes a good movie, the characters.
This movie unlike the previous two movies seems geared more towards attracting the general movie audience rather than X-Men fans. All in all, I would have to say that it wasn't that bad of a movie. I enjoyed watching this trailer, can't want to see the full movie. Hopefully, when the DVD is released there will be a lot of added scenes that will gives us a more indepth look at the characters.
